COMMON SUMP SYSTEMS

Some facilities with multiple evaporative condensers with numerous water systems and sumps can be difficult to treat. Many times an independent control feed system is required for each individual condenser. A common sump can simplify the water treatment program significantly by a process of blending condenser water from multiple evaporative condensers into one central sump.

Common sumps are commonly implemented in plants that use ammonia refrigeration to process and warehouse food and beverage products.

Common sumps come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but are typically sized for three or more evaporative condensers. Chem-Aqua can help design a common sump system for your facility.

Advantages of a Common Sump System

  • Lower maintenance costs
  • Fewer system upsets
  • Less time testing water
  • Lower capital in plants with four or more condensers
  • Easier access to water treatment program
  • Water and energy savings from evaporative condenser return system
